EVERYONE’S GOT A STORY
I’m a copywriter by day, wannabe author by night. Aside from those headlines, the most important thing you need to know about me is that writing is the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do*.
And whilst I’m lucky enough to do that for a day job, there’s this gnawing feeling inside me that can only be filled by writing fiction, dreaming up worlds, and creating characters who I’d totally be best friends with. I’ve now written two books, and in the process of editing my latest with a view to getting published. I’ll cut to the chase guys, IT’S HARD.
WORDS+ BOOKS + NERDING OUT.
But that’s where Better With A Pen comes in. A sort of hybrid writer/book blog, Better With A Pen is filled with flash fiction, bookish things, writing prompts, inspiration, author quotes, and tips to help you channel your inner writing badass. It’s basically the place where I come to feel inspired, to find like-minded people, and to pretend I’m being productive when editing 70,000 words seems too much like hard work.
* Full disclosure: When I was very young I wanted to be either a clown or a vet. It’s a story my family constantly roll out at social gatherings because it’s apparently hilarious. I quickly realised that although I like clowns and animals, being a clown would mean spending all day with screaming, sticky children; and being a vet would mean dealing with icky things. Writing seemed the safest option.
